- The lake is some 500 miles of shoreline, encompasses 22,000 acres
- The lake is man-made, to produce hydroelectric power
- Large & small mouth bass, muskies, bream, striped bass, crappies, northern pike, rock bass & trout live here
- Spring & Fall are peak seasons, but fishing is good year round
- A fishing license required for fishing during your stay at Bernard’s Landing
- The largest fish ever brought out of the lake was a 53 lb 7 oz. Striper
- Hunting is allowed through cooperation of Appalachian Power & the Commission of Game & Inland Fisheries
- The temperature highs in the Summer may reach the nineties, while January temperatures can drop low enough to freeze parts of the lake for days at a time
- We have floating convenience docks for you to use
- Boat rental is available at our marina with rates based on the amount of time and the type of boat rented
- Roanoke with a population of 220,000 is about 45 minutes (35 miles) away
- There are convenience stores and a small shopping center minutes away
